It's getting closer---hopefully Monday it'll get some hours putting it together---on another note I picked up a 2013 Hyundai Veloster Turbo and ended up shooting a bunch of video at the local track where we race the escort. I'd been asked about the track before so I'll post up the video---it's just rough stuff and we'll cut a bunch together to make a proper review of the car later, but it gives you the layout/racing line of the track and a little about the car. Can't wait to do the same type of video with the new escort---soon...

Ok, so after years of starting and stopping, getting excited and then burned out---heading one direction and then changing directions because of rules, I've decided to cancel/part out this project. The class I originally built it for doesn't exist any more so then I just decided to go unlimited which is how we ended up with all the tubular X members/arms /carbon hatch's/doors etc...and then they changed the rules and decided to assign points for the mods and after tallying up the points it put me up against Vettes/Vipers---basically supercars...So then I took everything off of it and went back towards stock and now they've gone to strictly power to weight---dyno and make sure you come in under/ over your minimum weight and every mod is good...I'm tired of chasing my tail and even though it's so close the amount of effort and money to finish would be better spent in other areas.

I wanted to say that this doesn't mean in any way that I'm abandoning the BG chassis/parts development etc---in fact it's just the opposite, I'm starting to build more parts for these cars and offer more support as evidenced by the group buys that have been going on the last few months. I'll continue to support the cars and I've got one at my shop that I maintain for customers---it was out at Autoclub speedway last weekend and won both it's races! I'm working on a rear strutbar currently and then starting development on the frog arms/front lateral support bars---there's talk of an AWD conversion rear crossmember as well. Anyrate I'll be busy with BG stuff for years to come so no worries.

My next project is going to be a Group B early escort that I've always wanted to build---we're going to do it differently than Ford did---probably the way they should have done it and it would have been more successful and not have got canned before it's first debut---it'll be akin to the Ford Escort 1700T, but mid-engine.

So without writing a novel I'm going to simply start a for sale thread in the classified section---I'd invite you all to read back through the thread (if interested in any parts) and take a look through the various parts that'll become available. We've already sold off the front brakes, fuel cell and system, but the rest will be itemized out and up for sale. If there's something your absolutely in need of and cant wait, go ahead and PM me---if you cant wait...I've enjoyed building the car/developing the parts, and the second I decided to sell the project I felt excitement creep back in for the next build, so I know it was the right decision.

Do I need anything from your car is the question now? I know something I would like to have, but I am on the fence since it would need other supporting mods for a street car.

It's part of the process for being competitive, it's for the best after and i know it, good luck for your next build ! i'm so far away (belgium europe) and i really have my eyes on somes parts you make, but shipping will just kill me :-(

Breaks my heart to see this one put down but It sounds like it's for the best. I wonder what shipping on an escort shell would be to the east coast? :-)

Geronimo I bet we could get that thing shipped back there for a couple grand...you'd be better off flying out here, by an escort GT, spend a week at the shop swapping everything over and driving it home!

Sure, why not---It'll probably end up on dolly's in the back of the shop under a car cover sealed in wrap---then in a couple of years I'll stick a big V8 in it and make it a RWD unlimited car...I still have those rocker boxes and aluminum arch's...hmmm...!!! Damn racecar ADHD...

Nevermind Jim, I just went back through the thread and the carbon/fiberglass doors wont work without mods for windows, and then I would need some door bars for safety etc........

That and I cut the hell out of the drivers door for the nascar bars---allthough you could easily put a carbon panel back over them and mount door handles and what not...
