I used a pull handle w/ the holes connected to some of the studs, when I stripped a stud on my front spindle. And I just torq'd the bolt to "press" it back in. Its been going strong for, oh, 20xxx miles. I'm just saying. Do it.

Not sure what you mean by that. I'm using the MX3 spindles. There is no physical room to insert the stud in the hub hole because the spindle is so close to the hub. To get the stud in the hole, the hub has to be pressed off the spindle, so there is no physical interference with the stud as it slides in. Seating it is child's play with an open ended lug nut and the air gun.

Here is what I mean on the stud:

Today's work - got the front calipers rebuilt, silver coated, and new pads & rotors put on. Goodridge lines also went on, brake prop. valve, and front hard lines. Still have to do a couple of things to the system (bleed master, and add the clutch lines & slave cyl).

Good work. Too bad about the stud though. I'm sure you'll get it settled in no time. Did you get your painting done on the other parts?

I did the same thing, I was thinking that I'm missing something very obvious.

I've had KSports on a daily driven Probe before, and I found them to be a bit harsh, but I had low profile tires and 18" wheels at the time (40-series tires). They were fantastic on smooth roads, but with lots of potholes at the time, I was worried about my rims a lot. That's one of the reasons I went with the 50-series tires this time (also for gearing).

i'm pretty sure i put a stud in my mx-3 spindle, mine don't have the dust sheild's anymore and i think i put it in on that side. mind you that was a couple of year's ago.

It's the spindle that's in the way, not the shield....if it was just the shield, my little friend the Dremel would have made a notch in there in no time. There is no access 360-degrees around. I think the BG & 4-cyl MX3s have smaller spindles than the V6 version.

                            Today's work:

*got the steering system 100% complete now. Rack connected to steering column via a double u-joint from a mazda 929 (I think) with an adjustable length (0-1" of play, which helped). Also made a plate to secure the end of the steering column (MX3) to the pedal assembly (323). Also made the firewall plate for the u-joint to go through. With the steering wheel on, steering is finally 100% functional and the short ratio rack should be a pleasure to drive on.

*got the blower mounted back in, and the interior wiring harness routed by the pedal assembly.

*hydraulic system also complete, with 2 custom short lines from the brake prop valve to the brake master cylinder (the 15/16" MC upgrade from the MX3 is nice, in case i do big brakes in the future).

Next up, I gotta make a round hole, then file it square (rectangular, actually) for the throttle cable fitting. Then mount the heater core, connect blower to heater core, and mount the firewall HVAC ducting.

                            It's coming together
