"He just finished the first day of Desert Storm---5th in Group 2 out of 11 entries. They said for the first couple of stages he was just cruising/limited his top speed to 70mph and the co-driver said that when he got into the throttle it felt fast/like a competitive rallycar. The 4th place car was also an escort---a ZX2!!! Tomorrow he'll turn it up a bit---I'd look for him to finish in the top half of the field. Great job so far!!! No scratch's/dents!!!"

2nd day he did about the same, just one position back---he was a lot faster though!

Chuck's racing again this weekend---the 2ND round of the championship in Ridgecrest, CA--- http://highdeserttrails.com/ . You can check there on Saturday to get live updates/scores and see how he's doing. He'll be pushing a bit harder this rally so we look for him to get closer to the podium this time as he learns the car. Also there's a ZX2 running---and the guys pretty fast!!! Could be a good weekend for the escorts...

He finished 2ND!! Didn't really challenge for the win, had some power issues---maybe the wrong cam timing so was down on HP pretty bad and the HP he had was in the wrong part of the RPM. Anyrate, drove conservative and outlasted his competition. No damage, dents or scratch's---pretty solid and uneventful rally!!! Pic's and maybe some video to come.

It was nice to see chuck in a solid car again.. had a chance to check it out on friday night after Tom teched the Evo.. Was wondering where Jon was when I seen the escort for the first time... I had a blast at High Desert Trails..

It was nice to see chuck in a solid car again.. had a chance to check it out on friday night after Tom teched the Evo.. Was wondering where Jon was when I seen the escort for the first time... I had a blast at High Desert Trails..

Jon made it to Desert Storm (couldn't make High Trails) crewing for Chuck and Tim Hayosh in the Tacoma which we had also built---I was excited to see Chuck get another clean run even though the power wasn't there---and very cool to see the Tacoma get 2ND overall---when we started that project it was going to be a simple stock class vehicle, then it kind of turned into an unlimited project for rally/desert stuff.

Jon was actually back in Arizona working on his rally escort---just dyno'd it and got 133HP at the wheels, a big improvement from before. Tom just found Chuck about 15HP---he had the cam timing a tooth or two off---should be more towards the middle of the field at the next event.

Chuck ran yet another event (seems like they're coming up pretty quick at the beginning of the year) this last weekend---Plan B Rally--- and finished 3RD in his CRS class (CRS Group 2) and is now leading the points championship by a small margin. He's starting to come to grips with FWD (and the escort), and getting quicker each event. So far no issues with his escort, and no mistakes during the rallies. I believe he got video and pics so I'll post them up when available. The ZX2 escort of Peterson DNF'd in transit---said they had a nasty vibration from an axle and didn't want to start with it...Better luck to them next time.
