That or safety wire---I used that stuff all the time in the offroad racing---now I've darn near forgotten how---haven't done it in so long- someone asked me to do his header bolts and I couldn't remember how!!! Took me a few tries...

Hey Jon and Jim. What event will you guys be going to next? Wolfie is done for the year this year. I may have to tag along with Tom for my rally fix.

We'll both be at Gorman---Jon was going to run, but it looks like he's having a small surgery next week so he withdrew---he'll still be there with "el blendero" and appropriate accoutrements.

That's the plan Scott. Gorman for at least spectating and prodding the after party. I may drag my Celica project along, depending on how I'm feeling.

Chucks racing this weekend at the Gorman rally in California (our home event). It's a rough, tight and technical rally, with lot's of hairpins into jumps/waterbars etc...He's just put a 4.92 final drive in the gearbox so he should be much better on stage off the corners! Here's a link, you can follow the action live on the web with stage times being updated every stage!

Let me know how that 4.926 r&p is, I've been eyeing that set up , with a limited slip and .71 5th it should be really nice set up for coming out of the corners, and should help fight turbo lag if running forced induction

I was just going to post that Chuck lost the engine on the 3rd stage...not sure if he missed a gear as he said the clutch was going. Motor was fine at the end of the last rally so we doubt it just gave out. When the trans went in they said there was a lot of endplay in the crank---so maybe that had something to do with it. Chuck said the car was much quicker/easier to drive off the corners and was excited about the ratio and the cars new potential, and of course bummed about the engine. We are thinking about offering a trans package---kind of an exchange with the KAAZ diff-either 4.67 or 4.92 ring and pinion installed in either an escort or KIA box-more on that later...

In case anyone missed the Gorman thread in the motorsports section, Chuck ran "blacky" (the sister car and nearly identical to this one) this weekend and finished on the podium (3RD). Jrally in his EGT won the class and nearly the overall 2WD victory finishing in the top ten---so escorts in first and third---they are still alive and well---and the 4.92 R&P is the bomb Chuck says---pulls like a turbo car!

I'd call them and check, we've done a few this year.
