and thanks again for the info. you guys actually solved a big issue for me. i was going to get the ttl's from mazda but they want 400ish$ for all four. way to much.
an aftermarket/oem company called Spicer makes them for cheaper, I think that's the company name. PM me if you want some more info, i'll try to rustle it up.

Thanks! Pulled the cage out---built the bolt in escort cage---pulled it out and put this one back in---welded as much as I could reach---pulled the boxes/plates out and lowered it down to weld all the tops. These are pics of it going in for the final time---lot's of bracing/gussets to make it rally safe/legal!!!

Thanks! Rally cages are my favorite to build---way more requirements make them much stronger/safer and of course they take more hours to build. Getting everything to fit tightly becomes more of a challenge as well...Here's an EVO 8 rallycar we built---a crazy amount of tubing, but you feel like superman when your driving inside...This escort will be much safer than the evo as even still the designs have become better/stronger---plus the escort is a 1000lbs lighter...

                    Work looks top notch!

What metal are you using? I'm assuming you're MIG welding it all? When the chassis is certified, are the welds sonic tested or is it all visual?

It's DOM and it's all migged except for the sheetmetal plates and boxes---they're tigged. I issue the logbooks/due the inspections for NASA"s rally program here in southern california so it's easy when I build the vehicle...When I logbook someone elses we just visually inspect the weld quality, drill holes to check the wall thickness, measure to make sure the tubes are in the proper locations, and try to make sure that the welds are 360 degrees around all the hard to get area's...I'm pretty easy going as a tech guy, I want the people to have a good experience and get to race each event so it would have to be pretty un-safe before we'd keep someone from racing---and even still we'd help them fix it before the event started.

                              Jim,
I'm curious to know if they actually sent the rates that I told them too. It doesn't look right to me. I told them a single rate spring for the front and dual rate in the back.

Hey Jon-dual rate front and rear-I'll check the rates tomorrow and let you know---we had to drill out the holes in the clevis to get them to fit---we need to explain to them about powder coating! I'll shoot some photo's of them tomorrow installed and post them up.
