BPD head restoration
I finished restoring the engine head, nice and clean with new seals everywhere.
Stupid valve cover bolt snapped in half, managed to get it out with the aide of an easy-out.
Removed all the carbon buildup from the intake/exhaust ports
From right to left, you can see the installation stages. New valve stem seal, then put in the valve, then the spring, then the upper spring seat, then the retainers.
Spring compressor in action
New HLAs, bye-bye ticking sounds
Removing the old valve cover seal, needed a bit of a cleaning too.
Cam gears reinstalled
It'll be painted eventually... maybe. I don't much care what it looks like under the hood, that's the least of my worries. As long as it's mechanically sound first, I'm ok with it.
A sad, sad sight. A speed3 gone to Mazda heaven Some kid turned left on a red and my buddy t-boned him. Insurance paid out $32k. We had three days to strip off all of the performance parts and swap them onto my other buddy's red speed3. The bitter part was he had just ordered new rims & wheels, a FMIC kit, c/f hood, and c/f skirts maybe a week before. Anyways, he spent about $20k on a stock 04 STI with ~20k kms on it. What a deal...
