That could be why mine slips into second if I shift REALLY hard sometimes. Do you remember how much he charges for just a pressure plate? I may see if he can make me a heavier one. I don't like how soft the pedal is with this clutch either.

he charged me about $100 for this pressure plate that is not working.
the new one that is on its way is a little more, we havent figured out an exact price yet.
for the record, with the ACT HD pp and spec 3+ disc i could do a 30mph rolling revlimiter clutch dump in second and lay rubber for a couple hundred yardsEscort GTR -- 11.87 @ 117.6 mph -- 320 HP / 325 Ft. Lbs. @ 23 PSI

jon, I just spoke with Chris and he told me that the reason why the pedal is soft is that they use thin diaphragms (unlike ACT) and they change the plates at the pivot points so it actually clamps harder but the pedal is still soft. He probably used 1800# pp in my case as well but he can't remember.

yes, yes you did.
the new clutch is in, supposedly a 2200# clamp with another 6 puck disc. ive only been about 10 miles so far, but the pedal is definitely stiffer and it is grabbing much harder. the other setup (which had an identical disc) was very easy to drive, almost like stock. with this new clutch i stalled it at the first stop sign i came to lol.
i also dropped in some higher lift cams and adjustable cam gears... one more thing to tuneEscort GTR -- 11.87 @ 117.6 mph -- 320 HP / 325 Ft. Lbs. @ 23 PSI

PS if anyone is looking for cam specs:
I got a hold of webcams and got the specs on the cam grind i have. here it is compared to stock cams...
Web 505+2.5:
Intake open: 8.5* ATDC
Intake close: 33.5* ABDC
Exhaust open: 33.5 BBDC
Exhaust close: 8.5* BTDC
Lobe centers are at both at 111*
Stock BP05:
Intake open: 5 ATDC
Intake close: 48 ABDC
Exhaust open: 56 BBDC
Exhaust close: 14 BTDC
Intake lobe center: 111.5*
Exhaust lobe center: 111*
BPT BP26
Intake open: 2 ATDC
Intake close: 51 ABDC
Exhaust open: 59 BBDC
Exhaust close: 8 BTDC
Intake lobe center: 114.5*
Exhaust lobe center: 115.5*
The problem is the lack of a standardized method for measuring the initial open/close. Webcams list a duration of 225* for both cams, while mazda lists 233* for intake cams and 247-250* for the exhaust cams. The webcams grind has a duration of 205* at a lift of 0.050", which is more duration than the stock cams at the same lift.
I think I may just adjust things to make the LSA the same as the BP26 cams, and leave it at that for now. Thoughts?Escort GTR -- 11.87 @ 117.6 mph -- 320 HP / 325 Ft. Lbs. @ 23 PSI
