    Hey man, if that mill works with the adapter plates you and I bought, it ain't OT a'tall!
    '90 AWD Protege, full GTR drivetrain swap, ~320 whp daily driver, RIP, and

      it wont, the FE3 uses an F series bellhousing pattern. for example it will bolt up to the 626 FS transmission

      i'm sure Tim could design it but you wuold need to get an FE3 down to his CMM shop...

        gah. Not enough extra cc's to bother with for that, if i run a different engine it's gonna be that 2.3 (2.5 if I could find one) duratec.

          i still think an AWD v6 protege rallycar would be beyond cool

          obviously that would be pretty tough though.. the block is probably way too wide to clear that toyota rear transfer. heck the BP doesnt even clear without grinding stuff down.

Also, if you source an FE3 from a Sportage you still need to get an intake and exhaust from a FWD application which was in MX-6 and 626 models in Europe, Japan and Australia/NZ. They have a similar relationship to B-series engines in that FE3 is to BP what F2 is to B8. They can be shoehorned into BG chassis cars and in turbo form throw out a helluva lot of power.

              You can stroke it to 2.3L using the F2T crankshaft

                Yup. F2t crank+some sort of shevy rods and pistons and you'll have a motor capable of handling 600+ hp. Hell the original fe3 can handle 400hp as is. This is just info I've had been told.


                Too keep it on topic.....FE3-t+yota tranni at 600whp would be nuts.

                          I have heard of it many times for the 3SGTE for stock but mostly modified engines and the only solution is to have the block machined to accept copper O-rings, or swap it out for the Camry 5SFE 2.2L which is supposedly a very strong engine.

                            the camry 2.2 is not nearly as strong as the 3sgte, it is a more common swap because of the larger stroke and parts availibility. also the 3sgte head flows a helluva lot beter due to its true twin cam design and wider valve angle. the 3sgte is what they use in the top secret gt300 supra race cars with over 600 hp, but not stock internals......................................... .... ok back on topic when do we expect to see this adapter plate on your car jon?

                              FE3 would be sick.
                              The rods are almost twice as thick as the GTR rods, and the pistons are strong as hell too. There are many different compression ratios available, 10:1 being the highest (and apparently most worthwhile), along with four different camshafts to choose from (FE5A has the longest duration), and the availability of a .2L stroker kit from a F2T engine (first gen ford probe GT, same probe the BF GTX guys use to make a VJ14/VJ11 hybrid turbo). Also the VRIS function in the intake manifold alters the length of the runners at 3800rpm to give it some extra torque at lower RPMs. The blocks are braced, have strong internals, are nearly the same physical size as the BP engines (hell they can be run off of a BP ECU), have plenty of meat between each cylinder (at least for 0.1L total overbore, I want to shoot for 0.2L if feasible), DOHC 4 valves per cylinder (though you'll want to replace the exhaust valves with a set of intake valves, the exhaust valves are able to rotate in place when they expand due to heat soak, not good for high performance engines) (also might want to replace the larger valve springs with some out of a VW VR6).

                              These engines are killer, don't be fooled by a measly 0.2L increase, you can easily change that to 0.4L and turbo it with factory internals AND still have it reliable.

                                in other news, i am hoping to have the plate in my hands by the end of next week. i have the week of labor day scheduled off from work (has been for months) so the timing seems to have worked out just perfectly!
