So I was on ebay last night and a saw an HX30 Holset turbo for $500 buy it now or best offer. The turbo has only 9K miles, so I put a $200 offer thinking that the guy would never accept the offer. Well guess what, I got it

NICE MAN!!!! you'll have to measure the SOB when you get it! I'm curious on the wheel sizes hot & cold. I was thinking about running an hx-30 or an hy-35 down the road.

my hy35 feels great on my car. ****ing thing hammers. i dont see much boost until like 3700 rpms though but it comes in hard

Well considering the numbers that follow a Holset turbo, the HX30 sounds smaller than the HY35...just like the HX50 is bigger than both lol.

What I was trying to say is that I know that the HX35 is bigger. Now, HY35 is it supposed to be smaller than the HX35, but bigger than the HX30? I want to know the difference between the X and the Y

oh i understand hah, i believe the X and the Y are for the exhaust housing...since i believe the hy35 comes from an atx, while the hx35 comes from an mtx.

but yea haha, i see what you mean, i believe the hx35 has a 12cm housing, and the hy35 has a 9cm...from what i've read and some what remember lol...

correct the hy exhaust housing is smaller than the hx, but the compressor side is exactly the same. i see full boost by 4000rpms (10psi)

low boost, at wastegate spring, 10 psi...
Launch control set at 3000 rpm if I remember...

now running 15-16 psi on street set-up.

Great turbo, I really like it. Spool relatively quickly, you should have full boost around 4000. Great top end, pull strong till redline at 7200 rpm.

Turbo on the manifold is my old T3, the other one, Holset HX30

In the engine bay...

I had to make a spacer between the turbo and the manifold because it didn't clear the manifold, and also to bring it closer of the engine block to give me more clearance for the radiator...
