Not yet, that should be fun though LOL. The engine is metric and the outlets are tiny, and the rad outlets are huge and (2)! different sizes of standard.

Likely a few months away for me, so go figure it out for me okay?? LOL.

I am neck deep in the suspension rebuild right now, then I am go to plumb the fuel lines and brake lines, put the dash and wirring back in. Then I should probably buy the rad......and a engine.

That is a MX-3 dash in a MX-3. (parts car for my 323 V6 Project) Putting a MX-3 dash in a protege has been done before though. (not by me) A 1994 MX-3 without air bags would be the one you would likely be looking for. I figure a MX-3 dash would be a near bolt in affair. You would likely have to get creative with matching door panels though.

What dash is that in your pic? That's the only one I'd go to the trouble of swapping. Thanks for the link, BTW.

        Sorry Chris, threadjack over.

not to be too much of a thread jacker but....

severaly people have done mx3 dash swaps in escorts. i can think of three off the top of my head. i think im the only one to do the protege/323 into an escort though. an CDM is old news been rocking that for about 6 years now.

anyways.... nice mx3! looks like a solid project. nice having a house with a good garage huh?

I really don't know LOL. I have not bought my KLZE yet, I want to buy it last when everything is ready to go. Just in case I need to take advantage of the extensive 30 day tail light warranty on J-spec engines.

I guess it to be 1 7/16" because that is the inlet and outlet size of a MX-6 rad? The Griffin has a 1 1/2" inlet and a 1 3/4" outlet. The Civic has 1 1/8" inlet & outlet, the Civic is just a wee little thing though. Kinda scary cooling a V6 with that little fella??? The inlet and out let are on the wrong sides too. The griffin is exactly the same size as a 323 A/C condensor so it can live IN the rad support. (not on it like the stock rad, freeing ug lots of real estate). The inlet and outlet are proper too. It is expensive, but really the only "custom" part of this whole dealio, so I am going to splurge. I saw a rat rod in one of the car mags at work with a front engine, but a rear mounted rad. He used copper pipe to plumb the rad, it looked really kool. He left it copper color, but I bet if you painted the copper black it would be very tidy and factory looking, just add a few inchs of rad hose on either end.

Oh nice MX-3 project by -the-way, so your putting a protege dash in it??? cool man (joking)

                        correct me if im wrong

but if you just swapped the dash harness form the mx3 also, wouldnt everything still work

i mean its basically putting the mx3 in a different shell

it shouldnt be that hard, i no doing the engine harness when it was super easy after being re-wrap and it also helps knowing were everything already goes

you need any help PM me on here or on PT (my name over there is kluver) i can take anypics or anything you should need

yea, you're just swapping everything over lol, everything swaps over, there are a few differences...Dan Sac did the complete swap in his first LHD V6 323 too.

pin outs at the main fuse panel are different. so you would need to repin the harness at that adapter. along with the mx3 having more electronic parts then the protege. such as the speedo and hvac system.

Thanks. I'm not sure if I want to do the whole dash harness because as neuspeed says \/\/\/

Thanks Imach. I may have to go the griffin rad way or might just look for a neon rad,we'll see. Hopefully it won't be hard to sell this civic rad.

What would be the best way to do the gauges? What works, what won't on the protege cluster? I'm guessing only fuel. So that means I'll probably end up doing a custom cluster using a 5" tach and 5" speedo then I'll just utilize my GTR center console cluster to monitor fuel and water temp. I'd probably end up using a thermoswitch to turn the rad fan(s) on. Man this is getting costly
