For one it would interfere with the output of the turbine and increase back pressure which is no good. The harder it becomes for the wastegate to vent, the greater your chance is of losing boost control in the higher rpms.

Got my adapter plate in today finally Found a place that had the mild steel tube in stock and that will be here early next week. Work is back in motion and I'll be wrapping this up very soon!! That is if everything work in my favor and I don't run in to any problems..

Well I started working on more of the downpipe and found a slight bit of a problem which lead to me hacking the flange off. This is ok because I'm just going to use what was the top part for the bottom weld and redo the flange again. Need to go pick up some collector flanges tuesday and get that done on the pipe that's still on the car. Still need to weld up the bungs for the o2's and a few other small bits like new hangers for the forward section. Soon she will be boosting again

The 4 bolt flange you speak of is the dinky one that was used on the stock gtx exhaust. I don't even think it's 1/4" thick but can look later. You'd probably be better off having one made from thicker steel.

Getting closer to completion Catch can is old and just threw it in for the hell of it since it was sitting near.

Thanks. I still have a lot of work to do before it's all back together. Should be a fairly decent gain over the vj20. The only downfall here is I'm still going to be using the gtx manifold...

The elbow for the manifold/wastegate showed up just now and soon I'll need to go have the manifold done sometime this week.
