i use a guy in ajax, place is called ajax engines and he does a lot of racing. he has done some custom stuff with my flywheels. never had any problems

well something happened with a PM i sent to sprint45 about the engine being delivered yesterday lol. the message never sent it seems, i can't even find it in my sent message folder which is pretty sweet...(pure sarcasm). so needless to say i drove to london (3.5hrs) to paint and install my wiper arms with new blades lol. I'm not blaming sprint45 for anything, something ****ed up, so we'll figure it out, **** happens lol

ok well me and sprint45 decided its easier for him to keep the engine cost wise right now, with his truck still on the road costing him money, and a round trip to london costing $100, and me needing to go back again to get the engine...just doesn't seem logical. so new plan!

i still have the block and main caps from the Protege, and the complete cylinder head. PLUS a smokey BP in storage that i decided to keep 4yrs ago lol.

So i'm going to use the crank and rotating assembly from the smoker and install it into the Protege block, i'll have a shop ridge reem, inspect the bore, and de-glaze it. then i can plastigauge the bearings and install new rings and bearings if needed.

I'm going to disassemble the head, clean it up, install new valve seals, lap the valves in, then have a shop pressure test and shave the head.

so it'll cost a bit more this way, but in the long run this is more convient for me to do this here while the protege is still in london, so i wont go ****ing crazy from bordom lol.

Good luck with the new build. If you get some spair money throw some b6t rods in there if you don't already have them.

yea i wish i could haha, trying to do this on a respectful budget. I'll be using the egt crank, rods and pistons hopefully.

First thing is first tho I have to pull the bottom end out of the egt engine so i can send the pistons off with the pro block to get measured up and ready for me to plastigauge all the bearings!

I'm not sure i'll pull the head apart quite so soon though, i'd rather wait til i had the money and the parts to pull it apart, clean it, send it off and TQ that bitch down!

I'm gonna check how the ports line up too on my intake mani and gtx mani, see if the head need much work...figure that'll take up some time too.

the southern block is stripped down to..well the block lol.

the cylinder head i'm going to use is stripped, all parts in order

the spare head is stripped, keeping the cams, HLAs, and keepers (little buggers)

found the best of the 32 HLAs (2 heads!) and its almost a 50/50 split as to which ones move and which ones are still pretty tight.

just to be sure, the HLAs should not push in with ease or to far, correct? most of them are around 75-90% stiff, compared to the shot ones which are around 40-60%.

next is to strip the other block in storage! so that might be tomorrow or the next day, need to figure out a way to remove the crank bolt on a gutted block (externally) lol.

well i cant find my charger it seems haha, i'll find it, haven't used it since i packed all my stuff up from the move.

anyways, managed to remove the crank bolt from the EGT engine, and i tried to drain all the old oil but it tipped 1/2 thru and made a big ol' mess haha, oh well.

i'll go back tomorrow and pull the internals, lost sun light pretty quick.

been searching high and low for my camera stuff and i can't seem to find it anywhere

anyways, i've been keeping busy with a few projects.

-gutted a 90-91 323 grill (no meshing/symbol) still needs a bit of work

- filled a 92+ 323 grill after grinding down center symbol (you can't gut these years due to the symbol being part of the grill frame. so far its filled with xpanding foam and has been sanded @ 80grit...should look like the Infini grill after i'm done

- removed spring perches from my rear tokico struts, turned out great!

- found my old protege gt cluster, so i removed the speedo assembly, tach assembly, and the gauge cover (the black piece w/ the holes) so i can add beauty rings to it

- used the gauge from the GT speedo assembly on my other CDN speedo assembly that has the cars mileage converted to km

- found a weighted miata shift knob then decided to modify my oem shifter lol. I just flipped it upside down and lightly held the pivot ball with a vise, then slipped a big bolt in the bushing area, then WACK with a hammer and the shifter and ball seperated!

so instead of moving the ball towards the shift knob, i moved it the other way so i could terry cloth the shifter so the ball would slide as far up as i wanted w/ minimal force...end result turned out great!

also cut 1" off the top lol, so its 1" shorter, then the pivot ball is up just over an 1"...so its around 2.1-2.2" shorter in height, and i'd say 60-65% shorter throws if i measured correctly!

found some 3/8" ID, 1/2" OD bronzoil bushings in my dads things and he said i could have them lol, so they've been shaved to fit in the shifter via press haha, now i just have to bore the center out a wee bit for the oem bolt to fit. Looks super sexy now tho mmm bronzoil.
