I've been crazy busy building stuff and haven't been on the forums much as of late---but I just got this project in and I'm super excited about it. A while ago I posted I was looking for an AWD Protege that was close to being done and after some debate with the customer decided to start with JRALLY's stock car in Arizona. Jon's car was straight and reasonably clean, ran good enough and the price was right so it was dropped off here today at the shop to begin the build.
The customer that I built the last two BG Rally escorts for needed a prerunner/recce car to go check out the stages before the race---something that was clean he could drive daily if he wanted, but something that could seat 4 racers and safely run a rally stage at pace...Hard to make a dual purpose car without some sacrifice, but this is going to be my best attempt/vision/creation of his idea's. It's going to need some HP, some gravel/track ready suspension that doesn't kill you on the streets, and all the creature comforts inside like AC, Heaters, stereo, 4 cushy bucket seats with harnesses, GPS/Nav, rallycomputer, underbody protection etc...
Here's the car in it's stock form on day one.
This build will be slower than some of the other builds---I've got some crazy stuff at the shop right now to finish---talk about diversity---a land rover defender that we're putting coilover suspension on, a twin turbo AWD 996 Porsche for a cage, a group 2 VW Golf, World Challenge Volvo TC---I just ordered tubing for everything and it was over a grand!!! Yikes....
