Parts wise I'm in it about 7 times what the car is worth, and probably once it's finished it will be worth 1/3 of what I have in it, that's if I'm lucky. Oh well haha!

Dropped some parts off at the shop today so they could reassemble the motor. Looks like they'll be ready for the whole car in a week or two! It would be better if its two, I'm still waiting on my ETD manifold. The ran into some "unexpected delays". Great.

One more update, Corksport had a 323GTR intake manifold come in so I decided to pick it up, dropped it and the Spec clutch/flywheel assembly off so that they could be balance with the rest of the rotating parts. That along with the Eibach EVS valve springs should let me revv to the moon if I need, and the urge may just strike me heh! I decided to hold off on the headwork for right now. In the not so far future I'd like to get a 99-00 Miata head and have that worked over, that should give me the top end performance I'm looking for.

That's all for now, but we're very close, it should be a matter of weeks before the car is complete :D

I like my last update. "Matter of weeks" oops. Turbo manifold should be here any day now I hope

So small update, the motor is complete/balanced/blueprinted/assembled. They need the turbo manifold before they can mock up the feed lines for the turbo and the downpipe, so that's the only thing holding us up right now.

              I did buy something yesterday.

High and low boost at the flip of a switch. What I think I'd like to do is set it up with a momentary switch on the steering wheel, sort of like a "scramble boost" setup. The boost controller has a 5v output line to go to the EMS, but I'm not quite sure how to set it up in the Haltech. I'll need it to switch between fuel maps on the fly, I'm pretty sure that it can be done (it can be done with an AEM EMS and the Haltech has more features) so I'll just have to figure out how to set it up. The hope is that I can run around town at a lower, "trans safe" power level. Then when the need arises (say down the back straight of PIR?) I can push my button and bump the boost. It won't be any HP levels that are too drastic since I'd like to stay on pump gas, but that extra little bit may mean the difference of getting passed or passing myself.

That's it for now, more when I have more!

why didnt you just get a boost control solenoid and have that on one of your PWM out puts, then have a switch to one of your inputs on the haltech... then you just hit the switch and it will switch your maps and controll your boost all from the ecu, not trying to link 2 things together...

You're right, and I still might end up doing that but I'm just exploring my options right now. The fewer inputs to the EMS means less for me to screw up was my original thinking. It will completely depend on which system will work better for a momentary change. I want to be able to hit a button while I'm moving and have that extra boost for just the amount of time that I'm holding the button down. I've seen the systems with a high/low switch on the dash and I've seen "scramble boost" setups, and I've seen dual stage boost controllers on both. That's why I bought one. If I decide to change it down the road, not a big deal.

the build sounds GRRRRR8, but I still see your tranny being a downer. if you're using the usdm awd tranny, it won't take much. i've seen some folks offer some purdy nice re-enforcement additions, but regardless. are you gonna be sticking with oe axles aswell?

I'm not the brightest crayon in the box but I know better than to hook any amount of power up to my stock trans. I have a GTX box that I've had a performance tranny shop go through, make sure there are no shavings or worn spots on the gears, and they replaced the syncros. And then if that trans happens to fail, I've got a second GTX box in the garage that I want to get worked over. You can never make these transmissions bullet proof (or so I'm told) but there are a few things I can do for reinforcement.

And the funny thing about the axles, I ordered a couple of axles through a canadian company called Fenco, the axles they sent me are nice, fat, and thick. They look pretty beefy so I'm not going to be surprised if they hold.

The OE axles are strong enough. I've never busted one anyhow.
