      i never could get it to idle. i do have a safc2 on it and still the same.. i might try the ecu. its now on 14 psi and it moves out pretty good now.. if i can get it to run smoother then ill keep it. i got another motor off the side.. that i was going to do a bunch of port work and balance and blue print it at my shop. but i need to know i can tune it before i waste anymore money..

        I say try the GTX ECU, if it doesn't do what you want it to, you can turn around and sell it for what you paid for it, no money lost. You can tune the safc with the GTX ECU as well, some people have done it running large turbochargers...

            here is a link about guys that ran just tuned vams,big pump,injector and turbos thats it...


            also there was a guy running a sohc ecu on a dohc motor turboed, cause the sohc ecu has a less aggressive timing map than the stock n/a dohc ecu,, he was from PR and posted a vid of the car on the dyno, but i can't find it, maybe some else can.

              do they make stronger rods for the sohc? or can i use bp rods or gtx? i got it running alittle better.. still rich.. but keeps getting quicker and quicker.. i raced a buddys car to get a idea were id be at.. and pretty much im a high 13 and trap probably around 103 105.

                as far as I know the b8 rods are the same as BP rods. So ya, you can run b6t rods, or GTR rods, or the ebay fatties lol.

                    You'll have to switch pistons if you ran dohc rods. Dohc has floating bearings. Sohc has pressed I believe.

                      so i can run bp internals then? if so ill just switch them out in this other motor i have after i balance and blueprinted them..

                      ill post some more pics soon.. i had them on my phone but my phone broke. so i have to take pics when ever i get time with the camera which is hardly ever.

                        dohc internals are not any better than sohc stuff strenght wise, + you will bump your comp up from the sohc comp.

                        im not sure if they are still around but there are some knockoff/china rods iirc there were belfab or something for 250-300, also there are deals on ebay for rods and pistons sets for 800 iirc eagle and wiseco name brand stuff.

                            i found cheap set of rods. but no pistons.. i want buy all forged stuff. this is just a fun dd.. all my other money goes in my 72 chevelle.as long as it could hold 250 - maybe 300 they im happy.

                              250-300 is what the BP is known best for holding

                              I wanted to go the forged route as well, but you can get much past 300whp without having transmission/axle issues...so until I can do the Toyota trans swap, stock internals for me
