I think I figured out how I will build my tie rod ends, should be simple enough and almost like stock, but adjustable. I may not need to make them much longer after I fix the geometry since it will give me some length back.

Did some work to the Kia manifold to make the 1st gen throttle body fit. Also planning to get the throttle body bored out from this place since they are having a price special this month:

Not finished yet, still need to redrill/tap the bottom holes. Finishing the opening will wait till I get a new gasket and the TB bored out.

Yes JB weld. Should have no problem holding up, the only part that worries me is the bottom holes since the new hole will be partially into the old one. I think I will just use a second set of studs on the bottom to try and prevent thread stripping.

Well I decided to actually see how much oil was being consumed on my car and found a nice surprise. 1Qt of oil in 1 tank of gas, or about 250miles of driving. Thats really bad.

I am just going to refresh this thing fairly cheaply till I am ready to do my engine swap.

Got a good deal on 10:1 Miata rod/piston set with 60K on it and a Fidanza flywheel, so they will be going in along with the head I am rebuilding.

Got my 10:1 pistons, Fidanza flywheel is on its way. Got the flywheel for $100 but the ring gear is loose, but that should be no problem to fix. Sent my spare 3-wire TB off to be bored out. Need to order a flex pipe, 2.5"-3" adapter pipe and another V-band to finish off my exhaust.

I was going to have the machine shop shave my cylinder head for a little more compression over what the Miata pistons will give me. Can anyone tell me how much should I tell them to take off?

Also I may be in the market for a SOHC small nose crank if the price is right or trade and the crank wont need machine work. I have a big nose BP crank /pulley/keyway if anybody wants to trade. Only problem is the crank will need the journals machined.

Ordered some stuff from silicone intakes to basically make my own intake since my stock tube was patched with electrical tape and the Accord intake is pretty much the same size as a stock tube.

Ordered a reducing bend 45 degree coupler, straight coupler and a 2' 135 degree bend. Did a test drive after I finished, throttle response is better and it noticeably pulls harder. I really wasnt expecting to feel anything.

that's a GREAT fit man! What did you use the 135* coupler for? Also what's up with your IAC connection? I see it's T'd into the valve cover vent hose lol

The 135 bend was the aluminum pipe. I used part for what you see here and the other part I was going to use to mod the H-box with a bigger pipe, but That H-box is a pain to fit and I was running out of time to finish.

The IAC hose is my temp solution until I have a better one. I do like it sucking through the smaller pipe though since the engine wont rev so high on cold starts. It doesnt go above 1500 RPM now.

Also I forgot to previously mention that I modded the stock airbox so the K code would fit on it.

you have an extremely valid point...hmmm, I wonder if I add a restrictor to my IAC (no coolant lines going to it) would settle down the insane 2,200rpm free rev...It's been disconnected ever since I got curious to see what it'd do without coolant lines lol...bad idea.

I am sure it would work for you. You can try a smaller line then I used and it would work fine I think. I have been wanting to restrict that line for a while anyway cause mine goes over 2K on cold starts, and its hard on the engine with cold oil and nothing on the bearings.

Just an update after running my IAC hose with a restrictor for over a week now. Last couple days have been cold for Phoenix, around mid 30's to mid 40's over night. The car starts up and runs at approx 1200 RPM, then after a few seconds it will build slowly up to 1500 and never go above that. I suppose it does this as the ECU is calling for a higher RPM and the duty cycle of the IAC goes up to meet that demand.

This is a great mod for cold weather starts to help reduce wear in the engine. One could even restrict it a little further so it would idle at 1K but it may start to run rough at that speed till it warms a little.

I may just leave the line T'd into the the valve cover vent, since I have found zero adverse effects of running it this way.
