    ah, yeah that's a good point. since it's so easy to make power with a BP, it's hard to justify putting the time and money into experimenting with them N/A. I feel like 140whp should be a fairly realistic goal that doesn't involve going completely nuts with a build.

    it's been a while since I've done anything N/A (with my Miata) so I didn't realize that Fuji-Racing was gone- sorry about that.

      With all the GTX turbo kits around, who has time for N/A. I love turbos and if life was perfect and had more money I would also still have my Z31 which I had planned to spend 30K on and have 500HP, because well big power is more fun with RWD, and I personally feel the linear powerband of N/A is better suited to a FWD car, and being a technical nerdy type sometimes the intricacies and experimentation to eek out a few extra HP is cool for me, and I also didnt set a benchmark for X amount of HP, so how can I be disappointed, lol

      I agree that 140WHP is a realistic goal for even a BP with the right combination of items. In the end I would like to get this thing dyno'd to satisfy my curiosity and see if a couple of things I did differently did anything or not, especially since I did something with the head that is different then anybody else ever does.

      I found a thread last night after you mentioned Fuji racing and it had a dyno chart posted by them claiming 184WHP on stock valves and stock injectors. The stock valves I can believe, but the stock injectors I cant. All the calculators for injector size say stock injectors are maxed at approx 160HP and they are at least 40HP over that unless they have some very small BSFC numbers, but I am still very new to tuning so it could be possible.

      Another good place to check for N/A tuning tips are sport bike forums. I have read some interesting things from them.

      Anyway after that long winded talk, my MS I bought from Rick Wilson arrived today. Thanks to Rick for a very easy transaction and answering all my questions. I also stopped at the junkyard to grab a Escort 1.9L airbox to use for my VAF delete and got a nice surprise which you can see in the picture below:



      The GM IAT sensor from diyautotune is a perfect fit and has the same threads as the OEM Ford one did, plus the Ford airbox is far less restrictive then the BP version.

        in regards to the distributor cap/rotor. i highly highly recommend you replace the center retaining clip on any aftermarket units with that of an OEM.
        aftermarkets are failures by design. on any of them i've examined.

            Well you remember that website I sent you the link to before? Thats what I tried

            I kinda want to get a dyno chart to see if it did something before I reveal anything to anybody.

                  MS is in and able to start the car, but since I am in the process of moving my spare vacuum line is not at the house so later today I hope to get that taken care of and then I can let Tunerstudio do its thing......

                  I would try and tune this thing because I would love to learn, but due to moving and time constraints I cant be messing with it now.

                    Had trouble starting the car today, but figured out I needed a VAF jumper to make it start. I am letting tunerstudio do its thing with the idle.

                    I have a couple of questions about set-up:
                    Do I need to set my base timing back to -10?

                    I tried to calibrate the TPS and the WOT count does not change if I have my foot WOT. It reads the same as the idle. Is that because of having a 3 wire TPS?

                      You NEED! a 4 wire TPS. 3 wire is a multi position pole reading. not a full sweep 0-5v like the 4 wire.

                      are you letting MS control the fuel pump?

                        After messing with this thing all yesterday I am realizing this. I already have the BMW 6 wire one I got from Jinx but didnt want to install it figuring it will be ok since this box was supposedly set up for a stock vehicle. After doing some reading on how to set up the MS from a PDF on Lex's website and the megamanual, I had to make some changes in the settings due to running the larger injectors etc...

                        I will be installing that today ASAP.

                        Its one of Lex's old boxes from 2009 built for Jim Pierce, so yes it controls the fuel pump, just have to run a jumper wire in the VAF plug.

                              Let me figure out why I am having my no start condition first and I will send it to you. I think I know whats wrong now but I just have to burn the new settings and try it out first.
