    Towing with my Protege LX

    Well I have been gone from club protege for some time now due to work but I haven't stopped reading up on how to make my Mazda more useable. I needed something to tow my Jet Ski and I wasn't going to buy an suv or truck just for that purpose. I decided to fit my protege with a custom tow hitch. ID:	1267262 happens that it was a 50% off sale. Had to cut the brackets so they can line up right and did some custom welding. 6 bolts and some not so fancy welding and i have a tow hitch!

      glad to hear it's welded and bolted in lol. how far does it protrude from the rear bumper now?? also what stage is it?

        It came off a Volvo Wagon, think it was 240 wagon. Its a thick heavy duty unit and it looks very durable. Saw some hitches on a couple of Ford Lincolns and Crown victorias that did not look or feel as sturdy. Got the wiring harness connected the same day.

          the hitch is about 12 inches from the floor and it sticks out about 16 inches from the rear. Click image for larger version
