    1993 mazda 323 1.6 swap log
    Attached Files

    #2
Long story short. B6 has a new waterpump. but chucked the headgasket

so....... purchased a full gasket kit from "domestic gaskets" ebay seller
ported the B6 SOHC 8v head. and ported his DOHC head at the same time.(a later build)
Took both cylinder heads to the machine shop for a resurface. max shaved the SOHC head for more compression

Plans are to run it NA & see how it responds & then ghetto boost it with a TD04 subaru turbo

just something to play around with meanwhile the DOHC is getting put together.

    A few pictures.

interesting fact to note about that chris.......
The intake valves are different in this DOHC VS the "standard" they aren't labeled 05 or 06 in the center.
they have a backcut on the chamber side face of the valve. and also one additional 30° back cut on the port side of the valve(past the 45° seat surface)
they appear to be a smidge thinner in the throat area as well.
both good/bad things about this. (the valves aren't SS- so they could burn an edge off easier)
But they will flow a noteable amount more

good eye on the cut valve guides! When i saw how far into the chamber they protruded i was a bit disgusted.

the washers are the spring seat base as jack said

They stick down a ways in my Kia head, so I noticed right away. Funny thing about those washers, I didnt find any in my kia head, but I will look again.

A few more pictures to throw in.

Finished assembling the engine & transmission & dropped it back in.

has some pep to it for a b6. anxious to see how it responds with a turbo hanging off it.
