Non detergent oil is best for break in.
The guy at the parts house recommended it for the first 300 miles of the break in. Thanks for this. I won't drive it again until I have this sorted out.

I went down to the local NAPA this morning to buy some break in oil and the store super was there. He wanted to sell me some 15w-40 weight oil. I left there and called the machine shop where I got the work done and talked with the guy that owns the place. He set me up with some of this

He actually gave it to me for a better price than Summit sells it for. I asked him if I might have a problem getting the rings to seat properly now and he had no decaffeinate answer. I guess I'm going to hope for the best.

Most of the ring seating take place right away in the first few miles of driving, and the rest gradually as you approach 1000-1500 miles.

After the oil change, I started it and let it idle for several minutes. The smoke in the exhaust let me know something was definitely happening. I let it cool off and then started it again. Where there was blow by, now there is almost none. The exhaust is nice and clean too. I think I'm going to be okay.

I just use the cheapest 30w I can get and change it at 20mile or one hour idling at 2k then change it again to my standard fill at 100miles.

In my effort to try and fix the high idle issue, I replaced the BP manifold that I modified with another that I sourced from the j/y. I had used brake cleaner to try and find air leaks and decided that the modded manifold was indeed leaking air. Unfortunately, the replacement didn't fix the problem. Upon visual inspection, I did find another leek in the intake pipe system. One of the terminator caps I had used was rubbing up against the pipe that goes to the turbo and had worn the end off of it.

I think I'm going to have to take a good look at the pipes that come from the SMIC to the intake. I can't adjust it so it fits right since this intake manifold is shaped different than the GTX I removed.

This might be totally irrelevant but, I had a high idle issue with low coolant. The ECT needs to see water or it will peg the idle at 2K, well in my case anyways. I kept chasing the timing since I had just done the belt and turned out I didn't burp the system well enough. Maybe the sensor is bad or plug? You still in the Couve?

Yea, I'm still a Vantucky peasant. We've got no plans to change any time soon. lol.

I ordered some silicone couplers and clamps just this morning. That intake setup is going to be a hanging question until I do.
A FMIC is a great idea, but I ain't gonna lie. I raced a modded Suby a few days ago and beat him. For my driving, I don't need it, and it brings attention I don't need. What I really need is a new wide band, I mean tires. lol I'm sitting here looking at the box my Innovate came in that's been sitting here in my living room for the last two months.

Edit-It wasn't by much, but he had the better lane. He should have had me with no trouble.

Two quarts of oil per tank full. No signs of leak, accept for the smell. Passed DEQ. I wouldn't think they'd pass it burning so much oil. I don't know WTF.

Call the rebuild a fail and tear it apart again?

honestly that sounds like the turbo seals might be shot. have you checked the inside of the turbo to see if its wet or shows signs on either side of oil??

2 quarts per tank is quite alot for just the motor alone

I'm going to tear this car apart again. I was hoping it would get better but it's not.
I'm going to do some research into oil burning issues with a focus on valve seals, oil rings, and break in process. Depending on when this happens, I might be able to rebuild the turbo as well.
