Firing order is right? Do not even look at that stuff setting the cam sprockets backwards, that is fookin nuts. The motor is designed to run the way it was built not backwards.

Yeah it's 1 3 4 2.
Is there anything that changes ignition timing during cranking or when cold? (I'll look through the FSM)

I don't. The car ran fine before I did everything for the turbo. The cams and crank are in the same place as they were before.

I only replaced the ecu. The harness is stock

I give u an idea start your engine with the injector ecu and vaf oem

And obviously the distribuidor forward

If u engine turn discard many things there

by chance is your rotor loose inside the distributor??
I kept the OEM rotor retention spring as it actually worked vs some of the aftermarket crap ones... might be worth looking into.
that could certainly create a several degree variance

Replaced:
valve cover gasket, intake hose, spark plugs, air filter, dome light bulb
got the a/c running perfectly

It's just hanging out in the garage waiting for me to fix it.
Hopefully spending some time with it this weekend... Still don't know what's wrong with it though!
