You jump the TEN and GND plugs in the diagnosis connector which is located by the battery on the firewall.

I thought all you had to do is unhook the battery for more than 15min.
Too bad I have AWD and you don't!

Actually, I believe you are correct, I was thinking wrong.

the TEN/GRD jumper is for reading the CEL codes.

            to reset the ECU:
            1. remove NEG battery cable
            2. step on brake pedal for 10-15 seconds
            3. re-connect NEG battery cable
            4. start engine and let idle untill it's at normal temp.

              Why the brake pedal?

Any electricity left in the system is zapped lighting up the brake lights.

Huh, I thought they wouldn't work at all with the negative disconnected. With the positive disconnected I could see, because it would drain all the residual current and not recharge it, but it seems like it wouldn't do anything with the negative off.

i see you have never passes a physics class that dealed with electricity. Electricity in fact actually flows backwards from what you are tought. the electric current is opposite to the direction in which the electrons flow.

Negitive = an abundance of negitive particals(electrons)
Positive = a lack of electons
voltage = potential difference = the difference between the lack and excess of electons.

things like to move from a greater concentration to that of a lesser concentation, think moving from the downtown core to the suburbs.

by some stupid "Mr. Ampere says electricity moves this way" is how we got the positive to negitive flow for current. They named elements of electricity before they understood it.
When you turn your car on... does it return the favor?

Ah, I see. No, I never took physics other than just basic high school stuff, but I do understand the concept of things moving from the greater concentration to the lesser concentration. In light of that, it makes sense. Good to know.

My Chemistry 105 class went over that too, It's like how an ion can gain or lose electrons to be positive or negative... but the neutrons and positrons stay the same.
