    BPT clutch stronger?

Can't really see mention of this anywhere... does anybody know if the BPT clutch holds more power than the BP clutch and if it is different how much it can hold and where can you buy one?

The BP-T clutch needs to be mated with the AWD flywheel

the stock BP clutch is organic i believe... the BP-T is ceramic and yes it holds more power.

there are tons of other clutches that will handle the extra horsepower if you're lookin for extra grip. i know there are ton's of posts about manufacturers such as ACT and what have you. more on point with what GTScort said, the gtr tranny is worthless unless you're already running an awd protege, hence.. any bpt clutch would be worthless if your car is FWD, which most likely we would assume it is if you're in the lower 48 for the most part.

you can use the AWD flywheel and clutch in a FWD tranny

ok, slightly mis-informed, i appologize.. just is there really a point to using an oem bpt clutch as opposed to an aftermarket act clutch???

the BP-T clutch is an excellent clutch

i never had an aftermarket to compare to, but a guy on here 'atila' had his BP- clutch installed at first.... then he put an ACT in his car I think... but switched back to the BP-T because he liked it better.

plus, if you get a motor with a great clutch, u can save $300 on your swap by doing so.

I was mainly looking for ways to cheap out. I've been looking at Spec or ACT... The Spec I notice are cheaper. I have the turbo set up coming, and I figure seeing as I won't have enough fuel for more than 300crank hp for another year at least, I was hoping to find some cheaper way.

A clutch is not something you wanna "ways to cheap out"... you'll end up kicking yourself later. Skimp on stuff that's easy to replace if you end up hating it... pulling the tranny isn't fun, especially when it could have been avoided by shelling out a few more $$$ for a better clutch.

I know what you're saying... my main concern is for something that won't slip up around 250-300crank hp for a while. If the BPT stuff can hold that, I would be happy with it. I'm sort of used to taking out the transmission or engine in my cars once a year at least anyway. Generally it's a matter of I can't leave well enough alone. If I was having someone else do it, I would definetely just go big the first time.

Also, if it slips a "little" in between gears, it should not impose the same shock as your typical grab and go performance clutch. Keeping the rest of the driveline alive for a little while longer until I can afford to go drag racing and break stuff.

Given that you need the flywheel as well, it may not be cheaper for me seeing as I don't have that stuff. I may just end up with a Spec anyway.

So GTScort, can the BPT clutch hold 250-300hp?

                      Hi,

250-300hp?? I dun think stock bpt cluth can hold that much of power. My stock bpt cluth can only hold about 190-200hp before it start to slips.

                      thank's
