    manual shift automatic

My 93 LX is now a manual shift automatic. As long as I use the electronic lock feature, I can make it shift, sharp and crisp through the gears. After it's in third or"D",I click off the lock and into overdrive it goes. Now, if I don't use this lock switch, this thing can't seem to find a gear on it's own. Slips all over the place and just won't work. Changed the valve body and the solonoids that are mounted on it with another one and it still did the same thing. Any clues as to where I might check next? Thanks.

The cable (kick down/throttle valve) that is located on the TB that goes to the transmission, when i was pulling my valve body apart the cable had to go in a special way to make it work, recheck the cable to see if its connected. The Transmission control Computer is in the ECU, Located under the center of the dash. Maybe that has malfunctioned? 90-91 LX's had a seperate Transmission Control Module. The Escort GT that I had had the ecu with the tranny computer as well. Hope some of this works for ya

Been gone for the holidays. Thanks for the replies. The cable is fine and working properly. The ECU sounds like the problem. We have a pick-your-own-part salvage yard near by. I'll do a check there for an ECU.
