    0 would be the safest.

    Wet or Dry shot?
How many miles are on the motor?
How often do you do oil changes?
    Is the motor well maintained?

Its hard to say exactly what would be safe.

If the car is over 5years old or 50k miles, I would not even think about nitrous. This could work just fine but mind you if just one problem occurs then the effect could be a blown engine or another serious malfunction.

meh, blow it and then you have a good reason to swap the BP in.

blowing it with nitrous is a good deal different than without . . . you'll end up with a fireball. watched a vic of a z06 on juice at a drag strip, it went boom

Why must it happen with a 5+ year old 50,000 + mile engine??
It could happen to a brand new engine just as easy

it does have the same chance of blowing on a newer motor, but the potential on a motor that has more miles is greater. More than likely an oil change was missed a few times, or the motor was not cared for and its not in as good of shape as it could be.

Wow, this is MUCH different from what I expected from a person with fewer than 10 posts here.

Usually it's, "I'm looking to install [crazy unnecessary mod] on my old beater Protege, but I don't want to pay to have it done by a shop, give me step-by-step instructions on how to do it because I have no idea, and give them to me NOW!"

Then the response goes something like, "Welcome to ClubProtege. What you need to keep in mind is that [crazy unnecessary mod] is hard to do, takes lots of finesse and money to do, and you should do a LOT of studying and maybe even then consider having a shop do it for you, or don't do it at all because your money is better spent elsewhere."

Then they usually go out try to do it themselves anyway, screw something up really bad, and end up back in here telling us about how they destroyed their Protege, and they either ask for help fixing it, or have a shop do the mod properly, or junk the car and end up buying a new one.

Good job colins323, you've shown us that not all forum newbies are complete n00bs, there are some good ones out there who actually listen to advice.

do a compression test on the motor first to see if the valves seals/rings are good. If it all checks out.. retard timming a bit get some colder plugs and go with a 55. if it blows you should gone with something lower haha. I think a 55 would be fine though... we've done a 55 on a bunch of motors and it only blew one (kid pumped 87 like a retard and melted 2 pistons)

just make sure you keep 93 in it, with a small retard.. and one step colder plugs.. I really don't think you even need the retard though for a dinky 55 shot.

seen many escort gt's running 100 shot dry kits with 2 heat range colder plugs and never having any probs.
btw, im 36 and have run nitrous very safely on numerous vehicles and never had a problem.
here's the latest and it does have over 330K miles and burns no oil, but then again, it is german..........

and here are the pics of the car.....

will be putting a dry kit on the teg pretty soon, will start with the 75 jets and let you know how is does in the 1/8 th.
