on the left - stock replacement throwout bearing available at advance auto parts
on the right - RB091 bearing that i have received with the ACT kit.

i guess this could be where my preloading is coming from. or think this difference is too small? unless ofcourse ACT bearings aren't the same exact dimensions as the factory one. did everyone use the bearing that came with their act kit, or did you guys just drop the old one back in?

Now another interresting thing: ACT has the same bearing for both, mx-6 (the clutch kit i have) and the escort/protege. BUt advance autoparts has 2 different part numbers for escort/pro and mx-6. I guess i could make it easier if i ordered both to see if htey are in fact different, but that didn't cross my mind on thursday when i ordered the part.

will install tranny today with a factory bearing, will see if its any better.

did you keep the original factory one? then you could really tell if this is ur problem.

I had a plastic peice of **** TOB come with my clutch kit and actually, that might be the reason for my disengagement problems & the reason why i had to shim the crap out of my slave cylinder rod to get the ****er to disengage completely when depressed.

no i didnt ive been cursing myself for that for sometime already.

i put the bearings on the fork to compare, and the one from the advance goes back about 1/8" further. Think that little will be enough to cause preloading? BTW, when i was putting the tranny first time, the tranny wouldn't go in by hand just by that amount. had to tighten it in - probably the preloading the pressure plate.
