    SOHC swap for DOHC?

I have a DX 1994 protege SOHC and was wondering if it can be coverted to a DOHC and if so how and what would the cost be like?

It would be the cost of the engine plus the cost of installation. The engine you have to find... call a junkyard and ask how much it would be. The installation is up to you. If you can put it in yourself, great, if not, call your local mechanic and get an estimate from them.

        Also, search harder.

Are you asking if you can switch to a DOHC motor, or are you asking if you can put a DOHC head on your SOHC block???

WEll is someone gonna help him out? Seeing that ther isnt a head swap faq..

              my estimate:
              Dohc Head - 100$
              Intake /Exh manifold 80$
DOHC wiring harness -ECU - 60$
              Timing Belt - 20$
              head Gasket - 60$

Thats about it..350$-400$ and its possible. But you can prob get a complete DOHC for taht much or a 100$ more. BP's are, that expensive at engine shops. Might as well jsut drop a complete Bp in unless you really cant find one.

i suggest a bpt or you can save money with a bpze with a 323 gtr turbo and ecu but it is prety expensive to get installed

go with the BP from a j/y to begin with....

The lower compression of the SOHC with the DOHC head will suck for performance... going against the whole reason for the swap to begin with.
The T3 BP MX-3 conversion has begun, and is taking forever & will kill me.
