dist install?

can anyone tell me how to install the distributor, what direction the rotor faces when engine is at tdc?

im going use the oil marks on it to line it up for now

Distributor on goes in one way. Make marks on both in the same spot with a line up mark on the head if you don't want to use a timming light.

i have to transfer it from my old engine to my new one and im not sure how to put in on im new to dist engines and to the 1.8

im going to use the marks left from the oil built up around the bolts to line it up just need to know whitch way to turn the roter befor sliding it into place

It only sets in the cam one way.

well i set the engine to tdc put the dist in and it wont start turn's over but wont fire

You forced it in 180 out. It can happen if you force it.

it trys to start but sputers then stalls after 3 sec

so what i take it out turn rotor and put it back in?

well i did that but dist would not go in that way so i had it right the first time, do you think my belt could have sliped a tooth
