The stock turbo for a jdm gtx is a vj20. You can get them I think for 300 rebuilt from www.corksport.com. Also you can keep an eye out for one on these forums or ebay. Corksport also sells the exaust manifold for the gtx for around 180-190.

They are small. They are good for about 200ish whp on a BP or GTX motor. Boost goes to about 14, but at redline is more like 12psi.

What size for something in the 250-300hp range?

I'm looking to build a custom exaust manifold with custom fitted turbo flanges, how many turbo options will I have?

yeah, what would be the best upgrade from a vj20? (in terms of spool time:horsepower)

if you can find the gtr turbo (vj22 i think it is?) that's good for 20+psi and well over 200whp.

GT is a vj-23 and can hold 20+psi. Good for about 250ish, but is rare to find. Best bet is to find a vj20 and make a vf-10 hybrid.

I just got a VJ-20/VF-10 hybrid. It is good for about 250whp.

Ryan has a VF-12 hybrid which is a good step up from what I have.

                            VJ23 RHF6B-943P16NR5BRS504AZ
Larger 6mm shaft vs. 5mm for the RHx5.
                            50.4mm comp wheel inducer (inlet)
                            P16 turbine housing, ~0.63A/R
That's about all that you can pull from the "p/n". I've heard of people making 400bhp with a VJ23/GTR, emanage, larger injectors, +boost.
fwiw, most RHx6's are diesel truck turbos, they're big, like Garrett T4 territory. The only "modern"/performance version I can think of that is close would be Apexi's RX6 turbo, and it easily does 400bhp.

For bolt-on simiplicity a VJ20 hybrid is tough to beat.
Deadbolt (and others)might be able to stick a Mitsu wheel in the comp housing?
Custom manifold and a Garrett or Mitsu turbo...

Anyone selling a VF10 comp and wheel? Complete turbo?
                            VF8 or VF12?
