you're going to have to order pieces.
but i don't see why you'd need anything stronger than OEM. Plans to break into the 10s?"Never run out of real estate, traction & ideas at the same time"

well i have plans for the low 12's. i would rather be safe than sorry. hey if i could break into the 11's i would. Right now what is keeping me above 15's is that i am still saving for a standalone. $2000CDN is a lot of money. once i get that i will install my turbo/ect. i like doing things once and doing things properly. if i need to replace my rods i'd rather do it while the engine is out, than lift the engine twice. When you turn your car on... does it return the favor?

once you're at that level, any mistake in tuning is going to kill an aftermarket rod as fast as it's going to kill an oem rod. Unless you're looking for more than 400whp, I don't see the point of upgrading. 400whp should get you into the 11s....with slicks. But you'll be blowing holes in gearboxes before you do this."Never run out of real estate, traction & ideas at the same time"

FYI the tubines in a jet engine run at 80% of their melting temperture. and they are a nickle/cadium/tungsten alloy. melting temperature of almost 6000F. why did i bring this up. compare the lightest alloy with the most heat reistant alloy, and you will see a huge increase in density/weight. ok steel is stronger the tungstan but at 2000F steel is liquid, "W" is still solid, see where this is going?
if anyone appoched me with a light weight connecting rod and claimed that is was the strongest. i would tell them to **** off. tensile strength, i'll believe that thye are wicked strong, heat and creep resistance, **** no!.
Look a connecting rod will endure a lot of heat. this is the _ONE_ component you should not skimp on, nor fall for propaganda.Last edited by Protoss; 11-17-2003, 12:48 AM.When you turn your car on... does it return the favor?

umm, miata rods aren't stronger....
what he was saying is that Mazda doesn't have or make GTX rods anymore, so you can't get them. If you ask for GTX rods, they'll hand you regular miata rods, which are weaker."Never run out of real estate, traction & ideas at the same time"

it's just a joke... basically, there are some people on the board who continually make really stupid posts. As an effort to make them stop, we quote them so that everyone can see how dumb they are. Hopefully this embarasses them enough to stop posting, or to learn what they're talking about."Never run out of real estate, traction & ideas at the same time"
