    sachs vs exedy

alright, so my egt has 172k on it with the original clutch, yea crazy i know. anyway it doesn't slip at all yet, but i just know it's time is coming so i want to be prepared when it does.

i'm just looking for a good stock style clutch. I have no future plans of a bpt swap, so holding power isn't really an issue.

    it's between this exedy http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/EXEDY...mZ150117163885

and this sachs (3rd on the list) http://www.autopartswarehouse.com/se...7016+1616+9191

with shipping they're both the same price. any suggestions?

From what I hear, mazda uses the exedy kit as a replacement. So I'd say exedy

i'd say either one, sachs makes excellent clutches as well. VW uses them as original equipment. my dad and i replaced the original clutch on his turbo diesel passat last year... 308k miles! and those motors make plenty of torque.

i had a sachs race clutch in a honda civic with a b18 swap. . . $350 for a clutch that outlasted all of my friends' act/clutchmasters/exedy clutches and was in the car when it left my hands. 30k miles of total beat down, and it never complained.

if it was me, i would probably get the exedy just because theyre as good as you can get. more people use them than sachs, but both are about the same as far as quality and durability. if mazda uses exedy as a replacement then you should use it as a replacement.

that would make you the first person ive ever heard say that exedy is junk. . . and i can probably think of at least 30 people that have now or had an exedy clutch of some kind at one time or another. explain please.

springs falling out, destroying the disc & eating ( lightweight option) to the flywheel.

3 exedy clutches all found in the previous civics i owned, ALL junk, some of them with the disc material completely frayed & gone, they happen to fail horribly. not to mention i'll never buy an orgainc disc again.

Maybe the civic ones are crap. I mean if the dealer is using them and they are fine thennn umm yeah. Another reason why civics suck!
