In Denso plugs, 16 is equivalent to NGK 5, and 20, one heat range colder, is equivalent to NGK 6.

honestly I don't know, I've never seen a non 11 plug...
oh wait
check this out I just found an awesome guide.
From the guide, I think that if you get the ngk bkr6e, it just means they're ungapped.
The number after the model represents the gap size.

BKR5E: V-Power, nickel alloy type with an .9 mm (.035") gap. Not listed for use in any Mazda. Other than the gap, same dimensions as BKR5E-11.
BKR6E: V-Power, nickel alloy type with an .8 mm (.032") gap. Not listed for use in any Mazda. Other than the gap, same dimensions as BKR6E-11.
Mazdagirl, use the correct -11 plugs with a 1.1 mm gap which are meant for the Mazda Proteges and clones. Neither NGK nor Denso plugs are meant to be re-gapped; that's why they're made in a variety of electrode spacings.
Both the BKR5E-11 and the BKR6E-11 plugs also have equivalent precious metal electrode types (platinum and iridium/platinum) if you're looking for a longer-lasting, higher-performing spark plug.

Mazdagirl, I'm surprised the NGK wire set was defective. They are a quality product, have a good reputation and are used by many here without problems. Is it possible that it was just one defective sample?
I use Magnecor spark plug wires. They provide excellent performance and are very long-lasting due to their construction but they are quite expensive compared to the NGKs. I don't know if they would be available in Estonia but in case your interested I'll provide the website:

NGK or Magnacore. Pretty much anything else won't last long.'90 AWD Protege, full GTR drivetrain swap, ~320 whp daily driver, RIP, and
'90 AWD Protege, yet another GTR swap, Open class rallycar with a Toyota GT4 gearbox swap, thus crossing the line between hobby and mental illness. And a Brabus E55 K8, removing all doubt.
