Royal Purple is my favorite, but its costly....redline is cheaper, and also good.

    tranny and engine oil

Funny, when I bought RP at PAW, it was about $5.50/qt, while most places sell Redline for $7-9/qt.

I've run Redline MTL in the tranny for 187k miles (after 30k), and I'm quite happy with it. I run various types of synthetic motor oil, mostly Valvoline (because the bottles fit in the VC opening ) and Mobil1. 10W30 year round in CA, and now I'm in Topeka, I'll be running 5W30 for the winter.

Having seen Redline MTL for $11 (I just bought some for under $7), I understand there are stores that are rip-offs. Just FYI, Jeg's has it pretty cheap (under $10 for trans fluid, under $6 for motor oil).

i've read that royal purple is good by some, and just "so-so" by others. I've never heard a bad thing about amsoil or redline. Redline is the cheaper of these two and more readily available...but still a bitch to get.
