    1993 LX Mounts

I'd like to install some better than factory mounts in a 1993 Protege LX five speed manual. Engine and transmission mounts primarily, shift bushings would be nice as a parallel project to tighten up the linkage while I'm at it. The current mounts are original and it would be nice to have the mounts firmer for more spirited driving.

Any ideas on how I can do this? I'd like to put in polyurethane mounts if they are available. I have them on my Firebird and they make an unbelievable difference with the decresed flex. Not to mention I don't have to worry about tearing them anymore.

    Thanks

I know some people honda people have used hockey pucks in their engine mounts. From what i read, I believe you can also get polyurethane in a tube and inject it into the mount.

I'm gonna be a cheapass and inject polyurethane in my mounts while the motor is out of the car...

I don't know which mounts actually are available...

BUT if you PM Gro Harlem, he may be able to get you the shifter bushings you desire for about $20, if he has any left.

Im gonna do the polyurethane injections in my mounts as well. If you get yours done soon post your feelings about it. If you notice anything at all, besides your engine will shake more.

Unfortunately it won't be the only thing I'm doing. So I won't really be able to tell you how helpful it is...

ZXturner.com has a Set of inserts for the 91-96 EGT. (same engine/tranny/mounts as the protege)
When you turn your car on... does it return the favor?

I bought a set of polyurethane filled mounts off some dude on eBay. I have yet to install them yet, but I will let you know my impressions whenever I get around to installing them.

Polyurethane injected mounts, does that work well? I've dealt with the stuff enough to do a cleaner job than the set on eBay but I'm unsure how strong that would actually be. I'd like to know what experiences you guys have once you get them in.

http://www.ZXTurner.com/ does not want to load for me, so I cannot see that product. Is there another link?

The Protege FAQ says Energy Suspension makes mounts for the BP motor. I was unable to find this in the application listing online.

                    Thanks for the information.

I put the polyurethane in my mounts.
I have to honestly say that I like it. There is a bit more vibration but when you step on the gas, the car responds.
The motor does not shift as much either.
I filled all of the mounts.
The rear mount , Front mount and the tranny mount.

I had the zx2 inserts in my 323 hehehe can you say rattle your teeth out lol ... I had 2 sets actually. I sold one set to an escort guy and the other set, I still have. When I sold the red 323 the guy could not take the vibration so I took them out.

If you don't mind the vibration get the inserts...
They are 20 bucks and they hold like a bitch ...
