Um..another air flow meter question :)

I bought the rx-8 1988 non turbo mass air flow meter. Is it neccesary to modify sometning or i can just mount it on the B8 and plug it in?
    Thanks

P.S. Since i still dont have the B8, can i test it on a B6 engine?

You mean rx-7 and BP? I think to make it idle correctly you will have to mod it a bit but other than that at least starting the car souldnt be an issue.

im even dumber, it says MAF, not VAF so a MAF should have no moving parts and should be able to plug right in. I hate work.

hehehe! yes, i know that, but, will the ECU (or whatever) simply accept that MAF without screwing something up? That is what i wanted to know

I am not that familiar with the B6 and the B8 motors so I cannot tell you if it'll work or not. If it plugs right in, then by all means give it a try. There's nothing that you can screw up by trying to use the RX-7 VAF. The car will either run or not. You might have to adjust the VAF for a good idle. All the info on how that's done for the BP motor can be found here:

                Hope this helps a bit.

The 1.8L SOHC will not gain anything (if any, VERY little) from the RX7 VAF swap. The VAF produces about 5hp gain ABOVE 6000rpm on the DOHC...the SOHC runs out of steam before the VAF gains are obtained.
