    ok i have a 1994 protege lx auto i did a 5 speed swap.i did the jumper and everything.Now the problem.... when i turn the key to the on position the E1 pin on the ecu frys the resistor.The pin E1 go's the the engin diagnostic port.I dont know why it would fry it.Has anyone had this problem?

    What on earth do you mean by that??

    If you're using the term 'jumper' as it's normally meant to be used (connecting two electrical contacts directly) then I think that might just be your problem.

              do you mean 1E...................NA 5spd 2 plug ECU pinouts if so that wire should trac from the ECU to the black plug underneath the ECU... in which case i would pull & examine your instument cluster for any issues on the back circuitry

                  malfunction indicator lamp 1E runs into the black plug under the ECU & up to the dash cluster to flash the check engine light. the ecu turns this wire into a ground to signal the CEL light to turn on.

                  Pull the cluster & look @ it see if everything on that end is okay. are you certain your engine harness is alright?

                    The only thing I can think of was I got the harness and ecu from a escort gt

                      I'm pretty sure that all the ecu and other pinouts are totally different on the EGT harness compared to a mazda one.. Ryan did that for me and had to repin lots of wires

                          you've got to re-pin damn near all those harness wires

                              or just swap out the sensors to egt 1's
