lash and preload should be all set, installing those stubs is analogous to replacing cv axles on a FWD

I made a little progress on this front today.

The pair of output shafts I bought off of Ebay came pretty rusty but serviceable. The important one is fine, but the other one had all the studs removed for some reason. I can only guess that removing the drive axle was a PITA with the assembly being so rusted which would account for the studs condition. I have the studs still and thankfully they've been removed to make for easy replacement when I'm able to source some new ones.

So yea, finding new studs is turning out to be a bit of a problem. Costless doesn't have anything even close. Shawn at Allen Web Mazda managed to pull up a diagram of the assembly which seemed to suggest that I would have to buy a whole new output shaft since they don't have a part # for the studs themselves. When this was not accepted, he asked his co-worker Denise who refereed me to Vancouver Bolt and Supply.

This information is a huge windfall for me since I'm missing bolts here and there. Whether they have the studs or not, I found a new source for parts. I don't mind going to True Value for my fasteners but there are some that they just don't carry.

I have another output shaft of this style already but I don't want to use it unless this piece turns out to be useless. Finding out about Vancouver Bolt and Supply is a pretty huge coup.

why not just bolt it with some high grade SAE spec fasteners?

I thought about that but have to wonder why manufacturers don't go that route with hubs. They always use studs for some reason. Maybe it's cheaper to mass produce with studs? I don't know.

That's definitely a fall back option though and I'm going to bring it up with the guys at Vancouver Bolt when I go.

I also bought some oil for it today,
            Amsoil synthetic grear lube,
            SAE 75w-90

After some time and effort, I was able to source some studs for the output shaft. I also have a few left over parts that I might be selling down the road.
