Which Short Shifter works?

So, I've been sitting here missing out on all of the short shifters thats been on sale, but now I really kinda want one, and dnt want to pay 100 for it. I would like the cs or the b&m one, but me no likey the price.

So does a short shifter from another car work? Like from a newer protege or honda?

I have no clue, but i'm sure cp knows! Yall know everything.

If you can find one from a MP3 or MSP it will be a bit shorter. Lots of people have adapted civic short throws into their cars. OR you can do it on the cheap and move the ball on your stock one, but be careful not to move it too much.

Yep, apply some heat and move the ball up an inch.

Or you can fit said honda civic shifter in the car. They fit pretty good from what I've heard...you can also get some ebay ones with ball bearings instead of bushings. My C's shifter has ball bearings, and shifts real smooth/quick.

yeah thats the style im using. works great for the price, just had to sand down the white retainer things, because the ball is a little bigger.

That's the ball bearing type, but there should be others with a better bend in them. The OEM shifter has quite the bends in it compared to that one....might put your odd shifts closer to the dash.

Thanks. I would have never known about the bends, until it was to late, then i would have been stuck.

Will our stock shifter fit? Imma see iof i can adapt my grenade shifter to it. Weighted to the max!

Haha no prob man, dont' want you punching your climate control! Weighted shift knobs are the way to go for sure, but I do believe honda has a different thread pitch than ours DSMs share the same pitch, as there are some nice weighted leather shift knobs on ebay for that application...mmm...

this is my favorite OEM shift knob, it's from the Miata, is the same weight as the normal Mazda weighted knobs, but it's smaller in diameter, and just as tall.

Pacesetter stopped making short shifters a while ago unfortunately

Only ball bearing shifter I can think of is the TWM? Short shifter, but it's pricey.

That's not the best one to get in my option, courtesy bend isn't there, and it doesn't use any ball bearings or bushings it seems.

I'm looking into short shifters too, but I heard the GTX has a different setup - anything I need to look out for or will pretty much anything work with little to no mods?
