    Lantis LSD in G Series

Hey all, having some problems regarding the installation of the 28 spline LSD into a KJ Laser G5M01 box

With the ring gear I want to use (G5M) I need to attach it to the diff. Problem is, the bolts hit the selector gate!

Has anyone had this problem before?

Tried fitting up the Lantis LSD but the bolts STILL HIT! The dodgy job I did clears the gear fine, but the heads of the bolts underneath hit the shifter gate. Soooo fustrating! Went to a diff place and got quoted $750 just to press in new rivets just like the factory lsd

What brand diff is it? My MFactory car with bolts that work perfectly.

You'll need low profile bolts for clearances. You could just TQ them all in and shave them down flat...but that's a lot of work lol.

This is doing my head in! 7/16 bolt heads are too thick and hit the shifter

Maybe order the low profile bolts from Mfactory?

Just sent an email to MFactory explaining my situation, and they said that their bolts are for use on their lsd's only

There's no threads in a stock diff for bolts to thread into, though. That's why the factory uses rivets and why he had to go with bolts and nuts. Can you tap the diff for threads then find bolts that would work?

Mazda likes using low profile bolts in certain applications, but not sure if they'll swap over to the diff or not. I know I just did a clutch kit on my 626, and the flywheel bolt heads were just tall enough to get a socket on them lol, maybe 1/4" tall...slipped off a few times TQing them.

I measured the stock rivet height and its 3.5mm, so need to find a bolt head close to that height. I have a packet of ARP flywheel bolts here that have a thin head

I think I've found the problem. With the TX3 ring gear the step up from the rivet holes to the edge of the gear is much smaller than the new gearbox ring gear. In the middle of grinding off those pesky rivets to fit it up

Well the ring gear from the original diff is off, and it's hitting the case :@

It might be hard to get a solid answer here because we never recieved the lantis in the us. You might want to try club323f or a nz based forum

Well I got this sorted, ended up getting the LSD machined 2.4mm off, using the original ring gear and slightly grinding down the shifter gate and bolt heads a touch. Can't wait till this is installed
