been searching for over an hour and still have questions...1996 KIA sophia BP05

what exactly are the mechanical differences between the 91-94 and the 95-98?
i think what ive gathered so far is that the kia bp05's have stronger solid cams and crank. also that that the kia i looked at doesnt have the oil port in the block like my egt block has.

    what about head ports/injector placement/flow?

im only concerned with the differences on the head and the block cause im gonna reuse the intake/exhaust manifolds. im also running the eninge on megasquirt with the miata CAS.

i think i read somewhere also that they dont have hla's but shimable solid lifters...is this true?

the reason im asking is cause im building a turbo BP to replace my worn out EGT BP that has been boosted since jan and is starting to burn oil.
    my goal is 350whp

last thing...are the screw in plugs at the back of the head towards the rear oil gally plugs? do they flow enough oil to tap into them to oil my turbo?

    thanks in advance
i know its a piece of crap... but im still faster...

my Last engine was a kia bp05... I wont say you wont make 350whp, but I dont believe It will last. My last setup made 335whp on 93 octane and only last me about a month...It was properly tune (ems) big injectors the hole nine. The problem is bp rods wont hold up. b6t gtx rods will. There is no major difference on the mazd bp and the kia bp... head ports are the same, no oils ports on block, but the lifters are better than the 90-94 bp's... they dont make so much noise. I would keep the motor at high 200's low 300's to be safe and have fun.

ya 350whp from a stock bp is pushing it lol, it's do-able but you'd have to be ever so careful and keep spares around lol

sweet... thanks for the replies... are the pistons strong enough to hold that kind of power? i might just get the forged ebay "H" beams for 250

never use the head for an oil supply to a turbo. you can properly drill/tap the front of the block without worry also.

stock pistons are ****ing garbage, if you're putting new rods in it replace the pistons as well.

I seen ONE stock pistons bp with gtx rods make over 350 whp properly tuned on c16 and last. I get my oil supply from the oils pressure sensor outlet... I use a t to mount the line and the sensor...

yea, replace the pistons too lol, Super Tech has decently priced pistons, shop around and you can find them pretty cheap,

thanks again...using the oil pressure sensor port never crossed my mind. so ill probably just use a "T" and stainless hardline with AN fittings.

as for the drilling and tapping the front port, i would be worried about getting metal shavings in the oil galleys. i also am curious where to get a tap strong enough. i tried using my craftsman tap set to clean up the treads in my cast manifold and it just ruined my tap.

does the Kia BP also have piston squirters?

Kia BP should have the squirters

You can also use a sandwich adapter on the oil filter housing to supply oil as well. Ace did it for his GTX setup since he's using a 97+ Miata engine which is missing the ports like yours.

if you drill slow & have it properly oiled with a magnet near by you literally have nothing to worry about.
any proper tap (not a cheap china piece) will work if you oil it as well & used the matching drill bit size for that tap.

shortly. you can blow air from the oil pressure sensor on the back of the block & blow out any shavings if you don't do it right.
The front port section is an entirely separate line cast into the block.
