    What is the difference between these transmissions?

    What is the difference between the F5M-R and the F25M-R?
    And what is the difference between the G5M-R and the G25M-R?
    I know mazda after 91 went to the g25 and f25 but I was just wonderimg what the differences were because from what I have read on the web they all have the same gear ratios pretty much.

    mostly just numbering- theres ****all for differences. G transmissions are stronger then F types.

      How to read mazda manual transmission codes

      First letter: E = 18 spline input shaft F = 20 spline input shaft G = 22 spline input shaft H = 23 spline input shaft

      First digit: Production revision (1 or no digit, 2 or 3)

      4 = 4 Gears 5 = 5 Gears 6 = 6 Gears

      M = Manual

      R = Remote Shift Control

      X = AWD

        So all you care about is the revision number, I don't know what specifically changed on these transmissions but it is ususally minor things that they thought of a better way of doing.. very little things

          Even still there are different case/bellhousing types for each transmission...

          The G5MR/G25MR has at least 4 different cases:

          B6T
          BP
          F2
          KL

          The F-series had both a cable-type and hydraulic type clutch system too, depending on car, and on year

          Confusing as hell, lol
