I'll take a picture of my bolt when I get home, It appears to have the larger shoulder but I am not sure. The real question is what do I need to ask for when I go to the parts store to get the right seal?
Get yourself a front crank seal for a 1990 DOHC mazda protege. I ordered one for my 4wd car and I ended up having a large nose because it was from a newer car. I completely spaced on it at the time I ordered the parts. I usually just get the front timing cover set because it ends up being cheaper than just the seal for the small nose stuff.
Another good way to tell is to compare the seal to a 96 miata seal. if the part numbers are different then you have the correct seal, if they are the same you have the large nose seal.

Thanks, I'll give that a try. I have a feeling this one won't fit either.

^yup, Part of my problem is that I was trying to use my gtx oil pump which has the larger diameter crank on my egt block which has the smaller diamter crank. Got the proper seal and switched back to the egt oil pump.
This picture shows the proper small crank seal fitting the crank and not the oil pump housing.
