    Mazda 323 BPT lifters

    Hi guys
I fixed my cams in wadecams Melbourne and there is a gap of 0.045" between the hydraulic lifter and the camshaft and as a result it will be noisy
Any ideas on how to fix this? Are there any lifters from another model that I can use to fill that gap?

    Thanks guys

Some later Mazda engines have switched over to the solid lifter style, involving shims to set the lifter/cam gap. They come on the updated version of the 2.5 V6 KL engine, known as the KLG4 (came in north american 98+ 626s, not sure about overseas). Also the 99+ 1.8 Miata came with solid lifters as well.

Both of these cars solid lifters are interchangeable, so you have your starting point at least. Could do a WTB thread

have u run the car yet? if u just rebuilt them and put them in without running the engine. the hydraulic lifters wont have oil in them and they will be compressed. they need oil pressure to adjust them selfs.

no i haven't run the car yet but the rebuilder says that 1.15mm is enough to be noisy

No they are non-hydraulic, hence the reason they need the shims to set the cam/lifter gap. Hydraulic lifters are self adjusting (to a certain extent obviously)

I think this gent needs lash caps, which are small spacers that sit on top of the valve stem and add height to the lifters. You need to find out your stem width and get the proper lash caps from a machine shop. You could try .030" height lash caps and let the hydraulic lifters close the gap. If you have regrind cams, I don't recommend going to a shim style bucket as they WILL throw a shim, resulting in tons of cylinder head damage.
