what can I take from BP-4W?

There is a BP-4W - 2000 miata 1.8 engine at my local junk yard.

I wonder if I can take anything from it and use it to improve the BP 05 in my racing Festiva.

Can I take the intake cam alone? Should I take the intake cam? Should I do the ex-intake swap or should I take the 4W intake cam?

The solid lifters. I'm sorry if that sounds stupid, but can I take them from 4W and more them into 05?

I know the valve angles are different so the 05 intake manifold would not bolt on the 4W head as is. Did anyone get the 4W working for a FWD BP application? Any links?

I know the distributor/position sensor stuff is different, I can kinda take care of this if needed using my custom ECU. My questions is what would bolt together and what is worth bolting together. Again, this is lemons racing so I do need a bit of HP gain for cheap.

    Take the entire head/cams/lifters.

You can use your distributor with it and some modding will need to be done to mount your normal BP intake to it, but it all can be done.

I agree with 300zxrb26dett. The ports are much better in the bp4w

Any hints/photos/write-ups on how to mate the 4W head with BP05 intake manifold?

Ferdi did it with a GTR intake manifold. http://www.ferdster.com/94ProLX/misc/ It wouldn't be all that different for an NA manifold though. PM him and I bet he will tell you all you would like to know.

Cody? Where is Cody in this thread? lol does he have posts only you can see? j/k Yes the port angle is better which improves velocity on the intake side and flow bench numbers are better.

someone correct me if im wrong. The bp4w cams would not work with the bp05 head due to much lift? I know at minumium you would need the solid lifters. But if he tried to take the easy way could he just swap in the lifters and cams?

Take the whole head. Nothing fancy involved in putting it on you block. You will have to do something about the intake. And dont put your distributor in it. If you do install this you should also be standalone for engine management. Imo

Guys, this is 24 hours of lemons.

$70 junk yard head is one thing (noone would notice it's not stock), but four bike TBs would be a different story

yo you can get junkyard Gixxer **** on the cheap and hack together an ITB adapter fairly easily as well

also given the popularity of Miatas and BG-chassis **** in LeMons, I wouldn't put money on those nerds not noticing a difference between a BP05 and BP4W head. it's not some redneck circle track ****...
