    Which is better?

We have built 2 motors and debating which is better. One has the BP4W head with the ex-intake cam swap. So "Stock" miata head with the cam swap. The other motor is a stock BP05 head with BP4W cams. So stock head with fat cams. These are not driven on the street and are always from 6000-7700 rpms. What setup benefits more. Miata head and cams, or stock head with super fat cams. Remember this is not for street purposes and is constantly in high RPMs so low end power doesnt matter.

I think he is asking what head combo is better.

I don't remember the BP4W cams being any different then other cams other than they have a profile for sold lifters vs HLA. I would say use the BP5A intake cam with the 4W exhaust cam, 4W head with solid lifters.

Yes I am asking which combo is better. The one motor that has the BP05 head with 4W (intake and exhaust cam) which barely idles since the cams are much larger then stock.
The other motor has the 4W head with 2 exhaust cams. I do have 5A cams but went with 2 exhaust since they are slightly larger then the 5a. Also on this motor I have adjustable cam gears set at 6 degrees retarded on both cams.

I would think the 4W head with 2 exhaust cams would be significantly faster then the stock BP05 head with 4W cams but it's not, if anything may be a tad slower. Both have identical bolt ons so that has nothing to do with it. My engine builder told me 6 degrees retarded on the cams, should I being something different with that?

Why not keep the 4W cams in the 4W head if they are clearly larger?
