    Throttle body swap

Hi, I'm new here to the protege forum.

I'm coming from the mazda323performance.com for some help

    I have a 1991 BG 323 hatch with the 1.6L sohc (B6E) engine with 5-speed trany

if you don't already know, the b6e throttle body is quite restrictive by havin a large lip inside of it. I've inquired about this on the 323 forum and found that the TB is interchangible with the protege and escort gt engines, which have a smaller or no lip in them.

Earlier this week I was geting parts at the closest j-yard and I stumbled upon a protege in a part of the yard which I had not yet explored. I aquired two things from the protege, one was a gauge cluster with tac and the other was the full size throttle body. The protege was an automatic which ment it had a different position sensor.

Now, after looking closely at the two throttle bodies, I determined that the position sensors can be swaped.

    here's my question:
when I swap the sensor, how do I position it so that it reads correctally?

oh, and I will be porting the intake plenum so I have the full benifit from the swap

I already have the protege TB, and I'm a little short on cash for another one

all I need to know is how to correctally position the the position sensor

Umm...i hope your kidding. Why would the ford TB fit a mazda engine? The 3.8 v6 throttle body upgrade is for the 1.9 Escort guys, seeing how their engines are 1000% ford designed and built.

If you want info about Mazda B-series tb swaps go here:

If you bought a TB from an ATX car, the TPS is way different. You need a TB from a MTX (assuming your car is MTX) for it to directly bolt on.

You will need to dremel out your plenum to accept the larger tb though. My 323 manifold was only 50mm big, and I had to dremel it way out to 60mm for the TB to actually do anything.
