when concerning the DOHC the joint shaft as termed by the repair manual...is shown to have a metal plate that covers the transmission oil/axel seal.... my problem being is this metal plate isnt attached firmly enought to my joint shaft and spins at higher speeds.... making the most horrible metal grinding noise.

#1 do i need the metal plate on the end of the shaft
#2 would i have to worry about oil leakage from the tranny if it wasn't there
#3 how should i go about fixing this? new shaft? have it tack welded?
