    Sunroof Question

I want to replace the solid panel in my 92 Protege LX with a glass one. Anyone have a glass protege assy for sale? I know the escort GT ones are interchangable to a point, but have some interior trim issues. What year Escorts are interchangable???the same 92 range?

You will have to get it from an Escort, but it's not limited to the GT's. I pulled mine from an Escort LX. It's the 91-95/6 range Escorts, I can't remember the exact years. You have 2 options. Either swap just the glass, or swap the entire assembly. I swapped the entire assembly. IMO it's better to swap the whole assembly, but it's much, much easier to only swap the glass. The only issue you will encounter with swapping the entire assembly is the dome light, the Protege light won't work with the Escort assembly so make sure you grab the Escort one. The reason I prefer swapping the entire assembly is because of the trim issures you mentioned. If you use the Protege assembly with the Escort glass, there will be these tab thingys sticking out on either side (they hold the sunshade up with the moonroof assembly). Also Im not sure if you can use the shrouds that cover up the bolts on the glass assembly. Im not 100% on that one though.

Melissa (my g/f) has an Escort glass sunroof in her 1st gen, she has a functioning manual sunshade as well.
