    All your wheel tire/fitment questions answered...

    Allright, for all the people who ever said "What size rims and tires should I go with?" "What is the stock offset" Etc. etc. etc... This is fitment info from my work.

    1990-1994 Mazda Protege/323

    Stock size 13x5 wheel 45mm offset, tire size 175/70R13
    Optional 14x5.5 wheel 45mm offset, tire size 185/60R14

    Plus zero-------Plus One--------Plus Two-------Plus Three-----Plus Four+
    155/80R13-----175/65R14-----195/50R15-----205/40R16----205/40R17
    185/65R14-----195/55R15----205/45R16-----215/35R18
    195/60R14-----205/50R15

    Max wheel size=18x7.5 45mm offset, requires fender modifications

    Recommended offsets:
    6"= +38mm
    6.5"= +38/40
    7"= +35/45
    7.5"= +35/45

    +40 or higher on lowered vehicles, lower offsets may require fender modifications.

    Wheel center bore = 54.1mm, Stud is 12x1.5 acorn seat, PCD is 4x100.

    Hope this clears up some confusion for some people, and coincidently, all miata's (save the newest model), BG's(including '91-'96 Escort, '90-'94 Protege/323), and MX-3's have THE EXACT SAME WHEEL DIMENSIONS, CENTER BORE, OFFSET and LUG SEAT.

    what about a 225/45R15?
    205/55R14?
    185/55R15
    195/55R15?
    215/45R15?
    195/45R16?
    215/40R16?
    215/45R16?
    225/40R16?
    225/45R16?
    215/40R17?
    205/45R17?

    175/70R13 is about as tall as a 185/60R14? little less than 23"? Why not arrange sizes by diameter? It'd be less confusing than you plus1, plus2, plus3 mix-n-match, plus that all changes when you talk about 13 and 14" rims...
    185/65R40 would be taller than stock. 205/40R16 would be shorter.
    215/35R18 is almost 1" taller than a 185/60R14, almost as tall as a 205/50R16, or the same as a 225/50R15 or 205/55R15.

    Generally, you want 6mm less offset for every 1/2" you make the wheels wider. This will keep your scrub radius close to stock.

        what the hell is scrub radius....and offset? Im a nuuby to tires anyway, I have a bit of an idea....but say you want bigger rims, same overall diameter so your car can still turn them....what is offset?

          205/50R15

          Those tires make the speedometer off by 5mph in an escort GT BTW.

            Interesting. I understand, it's just that the way I wrote it up is how my computer at work displayed them. I do want to go to our calculator and post the ideal tire size and offset per wheel size, but I just havn't had time yet. Sorry if this thread has led to some confusion. I'll try to clarify everything soon.
