Post your door build ups kick panels here

I've not seen enough on this topic, I'll start it off.

OEM size of front door speaker is 5 3/4".
I made these in 2000 to house a pair of Diamond Audio Hex (made by ETON) 6 1/2".
If you've ever attempted to upgrade the front stage, it obvious any driver with a competent magnet structure comes in contact with the window preventing it from being rolled down completely.
    My solution was this.
A big giant bonerstabb gizgrenade goes on/to the first person who can tell me what material they were made from.

My semi decent polks just barely clear it. BUT the tweeter makes the door bulge a little. But hey at least my window goes all the way down!

        Door panel build-up.

Oops. I haven't posted here in quite some time.. my pics didn't some thru.

You can see them here: http://www.questforancestors.com/purplecar.htm

Keep in mind that those are very old pics and the car has been completed and then tore all apart and is being completely redone. At least the trunk install anyway.

              Where have I been

My car got put on the back burner all last year. But I've resurected it a few weeks ago, and actually drove it out of the garage. It needs a little TLC, but I'm getting married in May and will have to wait until after that to put any money into it..

              But i'll keep posting

                  Overalls

                  Yep, those wouls be overalls.

Best thing to wear when you're crawling in a trunk and under the car.

Very simple install for now, but I will have the door panels recovered soon and will redo the speaker placement. These are Polks 6.5" Components by the way and all I had to do to get them to fit was drill 4 new holes.

Not bad at all, Im sure the polk motors aren't as beefy as the diamonds especially cause I couldn't even fit the 5 3/4 's in the stock location.
What style are you going for when you recover them? OEM, custom, etc.

Heres my 1st attempt at making kick pods. Turned out ok. Imaging is awesome and frequency response is pretty good aside from the resonant peak at 200Hz is very annoying. Speakers will be going in the doors once its warmer and I figure out how to get around the stupidly place window crank. Power windows I guess?? I also miss leg room.

Those look like dynaudio's, one of the best. Imaging can't be that great though because the tweeter is so far away from the mid. Rule of thumb, tweeter in relation to mid should never exceed 6 inches. Try to keep the mid and tweeter as close together as possible - this will make the two drivers sound more like a single speaker, and preferably in the same plane (pointing in the same direction). If your standard speaker locations are very low down in the car you can place the tweeters higher up to lift the sound stage.
